Biografía

Junot Diaz

Nació en el año 1968 en Villa Juana, Santo Domingo, República Dominicana.
partió a los Estados Unidos a la edad de 7 años aproximadamente, aprende inglés como su segunda lengua, se prepara en la Universidad de Cedar Ridge High School, Old Bridge, en New Jersey, y en Rutgers University.

Luego obtiene una maestría en Bellas artes en la Universidad de Cornell,actualmente es profesor de literatura en el Instituto tecnológico de Massachusetts.


Dentro de los cuentos que ha escrito están; Drown, publicada en 1996, en los que refleja su infancia, es elegido por The New yorker Magazine, como uno de los 20escritores más importantes de los Estados Unidos y en latinoamerica como uno de los 39 mejores también.


Recibió el premio Pulitzer por su novela titulada: La maravillosa vida breve de Oscar Wao, que trata de los inmigrantes que van a Estados unidos por mejor vida y refleja allí muchas costumbres y problemas que sucedian en nuestro país.

In some ways living in Santo Domingo during the Trujillato was a lot like being in that famous Twilight Zone episode that Oscar loved so much, the one where the monstrous white kid with the godlike powers rules over a town that is completely isolated from the rest of the world, a town called Peaksville. The white kid is vicious and random and all the people in the “community” live in straight terror of him, denouncing and betraying each other...
